Resurfacing work continues on State Highway 2 in the Hutt Valley with Upper Hutt the location for operations next week.
The highway will be closed to northbound traffic between Silverstream (Ferguson Drive) and Whakatiki Street on Sunday, 29 September, and Monday, 30 September, between 9 pm and 4:30 am.
Drivers must use local road detours via Upper Hutt – Fergusson Drive and Whakatiki Street. The detour will require extra travel time. Please allow additional time for your journeys.
State Highway 2 will remain open at all times to southbound traffic.
Drivers can also expect traffic delays from 8 pm while crews set up traffic management at work sites ahead of the closures.
Thursday night (3 October) will see work underway near Manor Park, north of the State Highway 58 interchange. This will see one northbound lane closed and the remaining lane open under a 30 km/h temporary speed limit.
The resurfacing work is part of ongoing maintenance on State Highway 2. It will improve the highway’s skid resistance, making driving safer.
These works are weather-dependent, and schedules may change if bad weather occurs. More updates will be provided as the work progresses.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance thank the public for their patience as this essential state highway maintenance is completed.
