Drivers will need to take extra care on State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill tomorrow, as there is a chance of snow falling on the road.
The Metservice has issued a Road Snowfall warning for the route between noon and seven pm tomorrow (Tuesday, 17 September), and is forecasting some snow may accumulate near the summit.
It means winter driving conditions will apply. Road users must adjust their speed to suit the conditions and drive slower to reduce the risk of losing control or skidding.
Wet and icy roads are slippery. Drivers should increase their following distance and avoid sudden braking. Be prepared for delays and allow extra time for your journeys.
Road Snowfall Warnings are also in place for the Desert Road (SH1) and the Napier/Taupo Highway (SH5).
Drivers are urged to check road and weather conditions before they travel, as bad weather can close roads at short notice.
