Road crews are making good progress on road resurfacing along the Hutt Valley State Highway 2 corridor.
Work between Korokoro and the Dowse Interchange has been completed and drivers should notice an improved road surface in this area.
Next week will see the third of five weeks of planned work. Crews will be resurfacing northbound lanes between the Dowse Interchange and the Kennedy Good Bridge
State Highway 2 will be closed to northbound traffic between Petone and Dowse Interchange on Sunday 15 September, and then between Melling Link and Kennedy Good Bridge on Monday to Wednesday nights (16 to 18 September), between 10pm and 4.30am.
Southbound traffic can travel along State Highway 2 under a lane closure.
Drivers must use local road detours via Lower Hutt. Please allow additional time for your journeys.
Drivers can also expect traffic delays from nine pm while crews set up traffic management at work sites ahead of the closures.
Further resurfacing work is planned along the State Highway 2 corridor until early October. The work is essential maintenance and will improve the highway’s surface – improving its skid resistance and making it safer to drive on.
These works are weather-dependent, and schedules may change if bad weather occurs. More updates will be provided as the work progresses.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance thank the public for their patience as this essential state highway maintenance is completed.
