A stretch of State Highway 1 south of Taihape will remain closed for the next few hours following a serious crash earlier this morning. The road, just south of Mangaone Valley Road, closed after a large truck rolled, blocking both lanes of the state highway. Emergency services remains onsite and a crane will be used to lift the truck off the road. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reminding road users to delay their travel if possible and avoid the area until further notice.

There is no signposted detour in place, however State Highway 4 remains the best alternative, at this stage. Our next schedule update will be before midday.
