CBA offers free financial education seminars – More than half to focus on educating customers about fraud and scams.

CommBank is helping to strengthen financial literacy and empower customers to make more informed decisions by hosting almost 1,000 free financial wellbeing seminars at branches across Australia this year.

Depending on their goal, customers can choose from a variety of topics, including Staying Safe Online, Looking to Buy Property and Financial Wellbeing for Women.

The one-hour sessions take place in branches and are designed to provide customers and businesses with the tools and resources they need to navigate their financial future with confidence.

Jocelyn Espie is one of more than 430 CommBank branch managers who have been specially trained to present the financial wellbeing seminars and help educate their local communities.

“Our free financial wellbeing seminars give CBA customers a great opportunity to learn from our experience, in a way that is tailored to their goals,” Ms Espie said.

“The content is easy to understand, and customers can leave with a better understanding of how to increase their financial awareness, make better financial decisions and improve their financial wellbeing.”

With scams prevalent across Australia, more than 500 of the free seminars will focus on educating customers around how to identify potential scams and avoid falling victim to them.

“While CBA invests around $750 million a year to protect customers from fraud, scams, financial and cyber crime, the best thing you can do is invest time – learning about the latest scams, how to spot them and how to keep yourself safe,” Ms Espie said.

With around 10 different topics on offer, the free seminars will take place at CommBank branches across Australia, including over 200 locations outside of a capital city.

Executive General Manager Customer Service Network Mark Jones added: “As part of our commitment to keep all regional branches open until at least the end of 2026, we committed to refining how we better support our customers in regional Australia.

“With the largest branch network of any bank, we continue to invest in our financial wellbeing seminars to ensure they are available across Australia, to help our customers bank safer and savvier.

“As small to medium businesses make up 97 per cent of Australian businesses, we have also expanded our suite of topics to include seminars for small business owners on cyber security and growing their operations.

“Our seminars are a wonderful opportunity for our people to connect with customers and provide face-to-face support, outside their everyday banking needs,” Mr Jones said.
