State Highway 4 is closed near Ruatiti Road at Raetihi and a signposted detour is in place.

A tree has fallen onto power lines, which are now blocking this stretch of state highway.

A clean up crew is on site in addition to a PowerCo contractor.

If you’re driving around the region, please avoid this area if possible and expect delays if travelling in the area.

The detour is as follows:

  • For northbound traffic using State Highway 4, turn right onto Raetihi Ohakune Road, then left onto State Highway 49 and then turn right to get back on State Highway 4. Reverse for southbound traffic.
