Journeys on SH3 north will soon be safer with work to install roadside barriers (guardrail) on parts of the route getting underway next week.
Guardrail will be installed at 6 sites across Uruti, Awakino and Pio Pio where there is a high risk of people running off the road and crashing into roadside hazards such as poles, ditches or trees.
Crews will be installing the barrier with stop/go traffic management in place, with delays of between 5 to 10 minutes.
There will be crews on site from 6.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Temporary reduced speed limits will also be in place for the safety of crews and road users.
Access to properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency services.
Dates and locations of work
Uruti
- Between 27 May and 13 June: Approximately 350 metres of guardrail over 2 sections will be installed (each side of the road), just south of Uruti Road.
