A stretch of State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway will remain under a temporary speed restriction overnight following a crash this evening.

A crash just before 7pm today has closed both the north and south bound lanes of the Expressway between Watchman Road by Hawke’s Bay Airport and Prebensen Drive in Napier.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and the single vehicle involved in the crash has now been removed from the road.

This section of the Expressway is expected to reopen later this evening, however the 50 kilometre speed limit will remain in place overnight given the damage caused to the flexible median barrier.

Road users are advised to drive carefully and to the conditions and to be aware of the temporary speed restriction in place.
