Road users in the far north should consider delaying their journey if they need to travel between Kaeo and Waipapa, due to a serious crash on State Highway 10.

State Highway 10 is closed between Takou Bay Rd and Sandys Rd. Emergency responders and the Serious Crash Unit are in attendance.

There are no suitable detours. Emergency services and traffic management will attempt to open a single lane of traffic when possible, however delays are to be expected.

Note SH1 is closed through the Mangamuka Gorge for ongoing recovery works due to multiple large slips and dropouts, so is not an available route.

Road users are advised to keep an eye on the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Journey Planner for up to date information.
