Berlin, Germany, January 2022 –beikecelltherapy.com, The Stem cell therapy experts, has created an index that quantifies the amount of time stay-at-home parents dedicate to their role, and calculates what the cost of outsourcing their tasks would be in 80 global cities. As a company that’s constantly studying its market, they wanted to analyze one of their customer groups for whom time is an invaluable commodity – stay-at-home parents – with the aim of measuring the value of the work they do during the years children typically live at home. They therefore put together an index to reveal the amount of time stay-at-home parents spend on their home maintenance and childcare tasks, and what the cost of outsourcing these tasks for the duration of a child’s upbringing would be in each city.
How the study was conducted:
The index began by identifying the home maintenance and childcare tasks that stay-at-home parents carry out each day. The researchers then used time use data to calculate the amount of time parents typically spend doing these activities.
The data was modelled for stay-at-home parents with one child, two children, three children and four children to reflect that more children create more work. The total amount of time spent on each activity per month was calculated for each family size. This data was then extrapolated over a 20-year period for each child to create a total number of hours spent on parental duties during the course of each childhood. The index imagined that any additional children were born at subsequent two year intervals.
Following this, the researchers found the cost of outsourcing the tasks in each city using salary data websites. This data was then multiplied by the number of hours spent on each task during the duration of a child’s upbringing to produce an overall figure.
The results reveal the amount of time stay-at-home parents spend on their duties, and the financial cost of outsourcing these tasks over the course of a child’s upbringing.
