realestate.co.nz is shaking up the market by opening its platform to private landlords so they can find the perfect tenant more affordably. The new offer is expected to level the playing field, currently dominated by one main competitor.

Sarah Wood, CEO of realestate.co.nz says this is significant news for landlords as it will give them access to a dedicated property platform when seeking tenants. She explains the move aligns with the company’s mission to empower people with a property search tool that helps them find the life they want to live, whether this be through finding the ideal rental, the purchase of a new home or an investment property.

“We want to support people in their property journey. Until recently, the rental listings marketplace has been dominated by one player and the price of rental advertising has gone up exponentially in recent years. We don’t believe that finding a tenant for your property needs to be as expensive.”

With an introductory offer of $5 per listing* and the standard price of $49, the platform is offering private landlords an online listing option that is far lower than the main competitor in the market.

Established before Google in 1996, realestate.co.nz is New Zealand’s longest-standing property website and the only site that’s dedicated purely to buying, renting, and selling real estate.

Wood explains, “We believe property can be a key driver of lifestyle. We have always strived to provide a valuable service at a reasonable price point.

“For renters, this will also open our site to a new section of the market and means more options when they’re looking for their next rental property.”

To further support landlords and tenants, the company is giving renters the chance to win a $20,000 housewarming gift, including a year’s free broadband from 2degrees, prizes from Sky, The Warehouse, My Food Bag, and even a new bed from BedsRus. The winner will also receive money towards their bond, insurance, a cleaner, and help with moving costs.

Anyone who saves a rental listing on realestate.co.nz from now until May 12th 2024, will have the chance to go in the draw to win.

Rental property seekers will also benefit from added value features on realestate.co.nz. These include the ability to personalise their search by minimising listings they are not interested in, and instant notifications, which can give property seekers a head start over the competition when new properties hit the site.

Wood says instant notifications are especially invaluable in a tight rental market.

“We know the rental market is extremely competitive at the moment, this notification feature can allow people to get ahead of the competition.

“We’ve heard stories of people getting in touch with agents and property managers within minutes of seeing a new listing. They’ve been able to get their foot in the door first for viewings and progress a lot quicker than others.”

“Ultimately, we are always looking for ways to make the journey of buying, renting, leasing or just browsing property easier and more enjoyable” adds Wood.

*Offer is available for private rental listings only and valid until 30/09/2024
