InternetNZ will be releasing new Internet Insights research on Tuesday 20 February. It contains data showing how concerned New Zealanders are about various aspects of the online world, and which groups are most negatively impacted.
The research contains fascinating stats about the huge number of New Zealanders concerned about AI, disinformation, online harm and cyberbullying. It’s also clear that working remotely continues to be the preference of a lot of people in Aotearoa.
Other findings include:
  • how many of us have experienced online harm or harassment
  • how often we are using the Internet – and what we’re doing online
  • what social media apps we are using, and which ones we’re using less
  • how many of us are connected to Fibre (and those groups who are less likely to have it)
  • our attitudes to AI, how much we know about AI, and the things that concern us most about it (number one is AI being used for malicious purposes).
The latest survey was commissioned by InternetNZ and carried out by Verian (formerly Kantar Public).
About the research
InternetNZ | Ipurangi Aotearoa operates the .nz domain space. We ensure all domain names ending with .nz are available for people and businesses in Aotearoa to function and thrive online. We’re a not-for-profit organisation. The money we receive from .nz domain names goes back into the community. We provide grants, help to fund other organisations, and advocate for an accessible and safe Internet that benefits everyone in Aotearoa.
