State Highway 25 closed in Thames following crash

Drivers heading through Thames can expect travel delays following a serious crash on State Highway 25 late this afternoon.

Update 7:40pm

State Highway 25 is now open to all traffic so following a car crash in Thames earlier today.

The incident was first reported shortly after 4 pm, and the highway reopened around 7:30 pm.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi wants to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation while emergency services and contractors worked to clear the crash scene and reopen the road.


The highway is closed between Pahau and Mary Streets. Emergency services are at the scene.

Local road detours are available, and drivers must follow all directions from emergency services at the crash site.

Road users should plan extra time for their travel until the crash scene is cleared.
