The Pacific Polytech and Fiji Muslim League have entered into an agreement to allow Pacific Polytech to utilize its premises in Nadi for advancing technical training and skill development in Fiji.
The Agreement, for an initial period of 5 years, was signed on Thursday 21 December by the General Secretary of FML Mr Saiyad Hussain and Polytech’s Director Mr. Peni Taoi. Members of the Executive Committee of the FML, and members of the Polytech’s Council witnessed the signing.
FML’s Executive Member, Master Abdul Qayyum Khan stated during the signing event at the Polytech’s Nabua Campus: “This agreement is a landmark agreement to develop skills in Fiji through promoting education and learning in the country. The FML is proud to be associated with the Polytech in this endeavour”.
Polytech Director, Mr. Taoi said that the Polytech is a new institution which has “grown through the support of every Fijian who wants Fiji to be well-endowed with skills to power Fiji’s industry, and who desire the younger generation to obtain skills of international standards”.
Mr. Taoi added that there were over 1,000 students from all walks of life who have either completed their training or are currently undergoing training at various campuses of the Polytech.
Pacific Polytech has campuses at Nabua, Nausori, Tavua, Lautoka, and Labasa. With the agreement signed this week, a campus would be established in Nadi from early January.
Polytech’s Head of School of Hospitality, Mr. Faruk Mohammed stated: “For the Polytech this is a remarkable agreement, as it avails a prime location in Nadi to develop skills in the tourism sector. We shall commence offering programmes at the Nadi Campus from January 2024”.
Following the agreement, the FML donated a number of equipment suitable for aged care for Polytech’s School of Healthcare Sciences. The School shall commence programmes in a number of programmes, including those in Care Giving, and Aged Care Nursing. The donations, worth over $10,000 were kindly received by Polytech’s Director, Mr. Taoi. Taoi added: “Such support from organisations like FML are heartwarming; they will go a long way to develop high quality training in Healthcare Sciences. The Polytech is thrilled by the support from FML.”
