Deputy Mayor of Auckland Desley Simpson, and Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office Group Manager Mat Tucker, recently visited West Auckland to meet with local residents and view storm-impacted properties on Don Buck Road, Rānui and Candia Road, Swanson.

During their visit, Mr Tucker and Ms Simpson were keen to understand how the west Auckland community is feeling, what they need and the obstacles they are facing, which will help the Recovery Office shape decisions for the area. They also shared information about progress on flood resilience work and property categorisation.

Talking about her experience on the day, Ms Simpson said: “It was good to visit west Auckland to see the impacted neighbourhoods and hear from people who were so affected by the severe weather. Their experiences have left a lasting impression on me.”
