Otago Polytechnic Te Pūkenga continues to bolster its connections to Otago business and industry, supporting the 2023 Grand Business South Awards, held in Dunedin recently.
“We are proud sponsors of the Business Sustainability category, won this year by Great South,” says Chris Williamson, Executive Director Otago Polytechnic.
Otago Polytechnic’s School of Business had a strong presence at the awards ceremony. Emma Hogg, Head of Business Programmes, joined by fellow academics Caryn Hayes, Helen Geytenbeek, Rachel Byars and Rachel van Gorp, described the occasion as both wonderful and valuable.
“It was great to listen to stories of local business and the exciting and innovative work that is being carried out in our region.
“It was also an opportunity to network with existing and new business associates, as we look to continue building our internship placements within the business community.
“As one example, we have an internship relationship with Business South, which we hope to foster. In fact, one of our ākonga has just complete an internship project for them,” Emma says.
“The project was focused on the theme, ‘How can Business South increase engagement with their digital communications?’. It was very well received by the host.
“Overall, the night was really fun, as well as being a great opportunity to hear about and celebrate local businesses doing great things.”
