Drivers travelling on State Highway 2 in Wairarapa can expect travel delays as fire crews and power company workers tackle downed powerlines and a scrub fire north of Clareville.
Update 8:30 pm:
State Highway 2, Masterton to Carterton, is now open in both directions.
However, drivers should take care where lines company crew are working.

Update 4pm:
State Highway 2 has been reopened to northbound traffic.
The southbound lane remains closed between East Taratahi Rd and Hughes Line. Southbound traffic must detour via East Taratahi Rd and Hughes Line.
3:45 pm:

The highway is currently closed between East Taratahi Road and Hughes Line. Local road detours are available but will mean longer travel times.
Drivers should follow the directions of contractors and emergency services and take extra care when travelling through the area.
