Central Otago people who have been taking a detour this week on SH8 near Roxburgh can go back onto the highway as of tomorrow/Saturday midday (7 October).

The project was due to be completed on Monday but will be ready with speed restrictions tomorrow around midday, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

Currently traffic is detoured off SH8 from Jedburgh St to Millers Flat Bridge Road.

The big new culvert, one of three in the area that have been upgraded in recent years, is designed to improve flooding resilience in Roxburgh.

Measuring five metres by three metres, it has been installed at Black Jack’s Creek on State Highway 8 over the past week.

Black Jack’s Creek/culvert is about 2.2km south of Golf Course Creek.
