A section of State Highway 2 at Matawai has been closed after a tree fell, blocking the road.
The road is now closed between Te Wera Road and the Matawai township.
An arborist will be onsite shortly to assess the damage and to determine next steps.

Heavy rainfall in the area saw surface flooding near Otoko Hill yesterday but the flooding dissipated and the road reopened last night.
