The first Refugee Communities Association of Australia (RCAA) national conference will bring refugee communities together with various stakeholders to begin a conversation, share knowledge and advance the capacity of people with lived experience.

The conference will feature keynote speeches by Immigration Minister Andrew Giles and NDIS Minister Bill Shorten.

The event provides an opportunity to develop the capacity of refugee communities, amplify their voices and focus on their lived experience of settlement in Australia.

It will also facilitate the engagement of partners in the settlement sector to understand and align shared objectives.

Highlights of the conference will be: a session on ‘sport, stories and journeys’, featuring members of Afghan women’s football team; a session on the ‘voices of refugee women’, and; a session on ‘equity and inclusive participation during settlement’.
