The finishing touches are being made to a new 12-person mobility platform at Go Media Stadium to be ready in time for Saturday’s All Blacks game.
The new platform comes after Auckland Stadiums recognised the need to provide more mobility access at a lower ticket price point within the stadium.
“We strive to be as accessible as possible to fans attending events and this new platform providing elevated views of the field is an important step in that journey,” says Mike Gray, director of Go Media.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing focus to improve the fan experience at Go Media Stadium. This covers a broad range of elements including new seating, investment into LED signage, and the development of Lilyworld providing fans with a venue to get together and socialize pre- and post-event.”
Go Media are the official outdoor media partner of the Warriors Community Trust, who have been working with Disability Sport Auckland to provide wheelchair rugby league.
“This now opens up opportunities for wheelchair athletes like Max to attend games affordably,” says Mike.
Max Wymer will be attending the Sunday game against the Sharks with a friend in this new premium viewing location.
Natasha Barber, Sports Development Manager at Disability Sport Auckland, says it was a “no brainer” to jump on this opportunity When Go Media got in touch about the new platform.
“Working towards the creation of the very first Wheelchair Rugby League programme in New Zealand history, it was important for us to partner with the Warriors Foundation, NZRL and ARL,” she says.
“Our community is made of thousands of people with mobility challenges, this is a step in the right direction. Seeing Max, a huge footy fan, having an improved experience of his League games from now on is priceless!”
