Wairarapa drivers traveling between Martinborough and Featherston can expect delays this morning as contractors clear a crash scene on State Highway 53, near the intersection of Phillips Line.

Update 8:10 am:

Local road detours are available.

Northbound traffic – turn left onto Te Maire Road, right onto Kahutara Road and then left back onto State Highway 53. The reverse applies for southbound traffic.

Update 8am:

A logging truck rollover was reported after 6.30 this morning – it has seen the entire highway blocked and it is currently closed to traffic.

Contractors and emergency services are at the scene and work is underway to remove the truck and debris from the highway. However, this may take some time to complete.

Local road detours are available but will increase travel times. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and to use an alternative route.
