Piloting vehicles past slip on SH25 this afternoon

While work continues on the slip site at Ruamahunga on State Highway 25 today, contractors will be piloting waiting vehicles through on the hour from 2pm.

There will be one trip in each direction on the hour at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm with the last escort at 5pm today.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency will then close road again overnight.

Contractors are continuing to progress slip clearance and specialist abseilers are back removing unstable material on the cliff face today.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency appreciates the detour is significant, with road users needing to travel via Whangamata and Whitianga to the northern end of the Peninsula, and thanks everyone for their patience.
