Today, the Biden Administration announced its plans to address carbon pollution from electric power plants. In response, WWF issued the following statement from Marcene Mitchell, senior vice president, climate:

“The Biden Administration is tackling this significant source of carbon pollution in a way that will keep the United States on target to hold the line at 1.5 degrees for global warming. The latest warnings from the IPCC demand nothing less.

“The climate crisis is not waiting, and it will take all of us, using all the tools at our disposal, to fully decarbonize our economy. We are hopeful, given the Administration’s stated commitment to environmental justice, that it will not stop here in addressing the concerns of fenceline communities surrounding these sources. It’s important that we stay practical but incisive in how we deploy technology and minimize the harm to surrounding communities and to nature as we address the climate crisis.”
