The Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth project will be undertaking line marking works on State Highway 1 (SH1) north of the Johnstones Hill Tunnels, as part of works to complete the final road layout.

To facilitate these works, SH1 northbound (Silverdale to Pūhoi) and southbound (Pūhoi to Grand Drive) will be closed from 9pm to 5am on:

  • Sunday 14 May to Thursday 18 May
  • Sunday 21 May to Thursday 25 May

When the closures are in place, there will be a detour along Hibiscus Coast Highway and/or SH16. A stop/go operation will be in place on Hibiscus Coast Highway to manage traffic safely.

While all efforts have been made to limit disruption to traffic flows, this work is weather dependent and we encourage you to plan your journey over this time and check the Journey Planner before heading out.

These construction works connecting with the Northern Gateway and SH1 are part of the final stages before the new motorway can be opened. While this will no doubt impact travel, completion of these works takes us closer to opening the new motorway and we are all looking forward to enjoying a safer, more resilient road.
