Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that ramp closures and night works will take place at the Ōhinewai Interchange on State Highway 1 (SH1) Waikato Expressway over four nights in late April and early May.
- Overnight Sunday 30 April and Tuesday 2 May the south-bound on and off ramps will be closed from 7.30pm until 6am the next morning.
- Overnight Monday 1 May and Wednesday 3 May the north-bound on and off ramps will be closed from 7.30pm until 6am the next morning.
When the south-bound onramp and northbound offramp are closed traffic will be detoured via the Rangiriri interchange.
When the south-bound offramp and north-bound onramp are closed the detour will be via the Taupiri Interchange.
The detour in either direction is expected to add around 20 minutes to a journey.
The closure is to allow signage, rails and line-marking to be installed to make the interchange safer for cyclists.
This is part of the project to bring the Waikato Expressway up to the standard required for a 110 km/hr road.
If the weather is poor, the reserve days for this work are Thursday 04 May and Sunday 07 May.
Waka Kotahi thanks drivers for their patience.
