Roading contractors will today continue to clean up stretches of the state highway network affected by the rain yesterday and Friday.

State Highway update as at 12pm:
SH35 from Te Puia Springs to Tolaga Bay – CLOSED
SH2 north between Ōpōtiki and Gisborne – OPEN
SH2 south between Gisborne and Wairoa – OPEN
Hawke’s Bay
State Highway update as at 12pm:
SH2 between Wairoa and the Eskdale turn off – CLOSED
SH38 between Lake Waikaremoana and Wairoa – CLOSED
SH5 between Napier and Taupō – CLOSED
SH2 south from the Esk Valley turnoff – OPEN
SH50 south from Napier – OPEN
SH51 south from Napier – OPEN
Napier-Taihape Road – CLOSED
“It’s crucial people who are using the roads, drive to the conditions – so expect to possibly see more silt on the roads, more debris or slips. Our contractors are continuing to work to clear debris as soon as we’re made aware of it.
“Our priority is ensuring the roads which are open are made as safe as possible for all road users.”
