With the weather in Auckland forecast by the MetService to improve, kerbside rubbish, recycling and food scrap collections (if applicable) will resume today, Wednesday 15 February as per the normal scheduled collection day.
If your kerbside collection was cancelled on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 February and you cannot wait until your next usual collection day, you can take it to one of the 15 participating transfer stations or resource recovery centres for free. Check that your closest one is open. The list can be found here [PDF]. Your rubbish does not have to be in a council bag, it can be in a black bag or any container.
Anyone who missed their collection from today onwards will need to pay for disposal.
Collection of flood-damaged items will also resume on Wednesday 15 February. Please do NOT put building material on the kerbside. You, or your builder, will need to arrange a private collection, in a truck, skip bin or a flexi bag.
Also don’t put storm or flood-related tree debris from private properties on the kerbside. Please take it to one of the 15 participating transfer station or resource recovery centres – for free – once it’s safe to do so.
If you have already lodged a request for assistance, or collection of your flood-damaged items from the kerbside, we have you on our list and will get to you as soon as it is safe to do so.
Please be patient, we will get to you as soon as we can.
