All Te Whatu Ora hospitals in the Waikato are open and here to help.

Thames Hospital is prioritising acute and urgent care while travel is restricted for patients and staff. This means most planned care appointments will need to be rescheduled and outpatient clinics are shifting to telehealth wherever possible. We are contacting all affected patients to advise and re-book where necessary.

If you have an appointment scheduled to take place within the next 24 hours and have not been contacted, please call the relevant clinic to confirm – the number will be on your appointment letter. Please do not call if your appointment is more than 24 hours away as we are reviewing the situation daily.

All other hospitals in the Waikato are operating as normal and patients are advised to attend appointments, provided it is safe to travel.

Nurses are conducting health and welfare checks across the Coromandel, contacting patients who are being managed in the community and checking they have the equipment they need.

Primary care providers in areas affected by the cyclone are also shifting to telehealth appointments where possible. They will be contacting any affected patients directly to advise.

Look after yourself and seek medical help when and where you need it.

Unwell? Unsure? – Call Healthline 0800 611 116 for free medical advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Need to talk? 1737 – Free call or text 1737 any time to talk with a trained counsellor.

Always call 111 if it is an emergency – Hospital emergency departments and urgent care clinics will be open.
