Road works to resurface State Highway 3 will begin from 15 January, starting with the section between Hunter Street and Glover Road.
Crews will be onsite between 2.00pm and 2.00am, Sunday to Saturday for three to four weeks.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via Glover Road and Collins Street 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while this work is carried out. Northbound traffic will continue to use Waihi Road.
Once this section is complete, work will start between Glover Road and Fantham Street. It will take approximately five nights to complete, weather permitting. Crews will operate between 6.00pm and 6.00am, Sunday to Saturday.
No suitable detour is available so this work will be carried out under stop/go traffic management with delays of approximately 5-10 minutes. The road will be open as normal from 6.00am Saturdays to 6.00pm Sundays.
Motorists are asked to slow down before reaching the new asphalt and keep to the temporary speed limits. Please be patient, follow all instructions of traffic management crews and be kind and courteous to road workers.
Waka Kotahi thanks people for their patience and co-operation while these important works take place.
