To help ease festive foodflation stress, HelloFresh launches new Festive Faves – an easy, convenient and great value option for entertaining family and friends this festive season

13 December 2022 – A new national survey from leading meal kit delivery service, HelloFresh, has confirmed what Kiwis have been thinking: this festive season is going to be a whole lot more expensive when it comes to putting food on the table.

The research reveals almost half (47%) of Kiwis agree that the cost of Christmas will be more expensive than ever this year, with 73% planning to spend more on groceries this festive season compared to last.

When it comes to food shopping during the festive season, two thirds (66%) of Kiwis are expecting this to increase by 50% of last year’s spend, and half (51%) are concerned about whether they’re going to be able to pay for groceries for the Christmas period.

Tom Rutledge, CEO of HelloFresh ANZ said:

“At HelloFresh, we’ve always been committed to delivering the best value to our customers. With the festive season at our doorstep, it’s more important than ever that Kiwis get the most out of their weekly food shop.”

“As grocery prices go up and the cost of living continues to be a growing concern for Kiwis, we know people are looking for better value options for their groceries this Christmas.

“We want to remind Kiwis that there’s a better alternative to shopping at the supermarket. With the launch of our new Festive Faves recipes, Kiwis can entertain friends and family without the stress of overspending at the shops, thanks to our convenient home delivery.

“Within the new offering, Kiwis can choose from an exciting range of dinners, brunches, desserts from the HelloFresh menu each week, with no added surcharge.”

The research also found that two in five (43%) New Zealanders agree that Christmas meals are a crucial contribution to a successful Christmas, including 35% who say that festive dinners, brunches, desserts and appetisers are an important part throughout December.

Additionally, the study uncovered over two in five (45%) Kiwis believe that meal kit delivery services would make entertaining less stressful over the festive season, while almost one in four (23%) are concerned about being judged by family and friends for not making or having good Christmas meals.

The HelloFresh Festive Faves menu is all about getting into the silly season spirit with festive dinners, brunches, desserts and appetisers on the menu in December.

Kiwis can expect recipes such as:

Cherry-glazed chicken and veggie couscous with roasted almonds and lemon

Xmas Orange-Cherry Glazed Pork Steak with Chive Mashed Potato & Macadamia Veggies

Kiwi Xmas Mango & Pineapple Summer Crumble with mint sauce

Merry Cherry Cream stack with candied nuts and dark chocolate drizzle

Kiwis can select Festive Faves recipes as part of their weekly HelloFresh subscription from 10 December through to 30 December.
