Pukerua Bay residents and regular users of State Highway 59 need to be ready for upcoming roadworks.
As of Monday, 5 December, contractors will be working hard on further stabilisation work on the slip face that closed the highway for four weeks back in late August/early September.
Earlier slip control work will be strengthened – this includes drilling drains, installing mesh and soil anchors in some areas, and spraying a concrete surface (shotcrete) over others.
The works require traffic management to protect road users and contractors.
Only one lane will be open though the works site, and traffic lights will control vehicle access.
It means there will be delays on this part of State Highway 59. Drivers should detour via State Highway 1, Transmission Gully, while this project is underway.

Waka Kotahi wants to thank residents and regular users of State Highway 59 for their patience and understanding while this essential work is carried out.
