State Highway 1 between Ōtaki and Levin is now fully open following a crash involving a car and a power pole north of Ōtaki earlier today.

The collision happened just after midday. The highway was fully closed for around two and a half hours with a local detour in place while emergency services and contractors cleared the scene.

Both lanes of the highway are now open. Road users can expect delays while congestion eases.

Waka Kotahi thanks drivers for their patience and cooperation while contractors and emergency services have worked to reopen the road.
