Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that work is now underway to repair and upgrade State Highway 3 at Tangahoe, seven kilometres south of Hāwera.

The road will remain reduced to a single lane under traffic light control while work is carried out to repair damage and re-instate the road after heavy rainfall caused an underslip on the southbound lane in September.

Crews will be on site for ten to twelve weeks to complete the repairs, which also includes the installation of a new retaining wall, guardrails and other road repairs.

Motorists are advised to take extra care when travelling through the area and comply with the temporary speed limits in place, for their own safety and for the safety or road workers.

Waka Kotahi thanks road users for their patience while this important work is completed.
