The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (6 November 2022).

Note: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. If bad weather should strike, work will be postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.

Wellington, Porirua, Kāpiti, Hutt

State Highway 1

SH1 North Manakau, north of Tatum Park

  • Tuesday night, 7pm – 5.30am
  • Stop/go traffic control for road repair

SH1 Ōtaki North

  • Sunday to Friday
  • Please stop on request for expressway works

SH1 Vivian Street / Victoria Street intersection

  • Sunday and Monday nights 7pm – 5.30am
  • Stop/go traffic control for road repairs

State Highway 2

SH2 Remutaka Hill closed 3 nights

  • Sunday to Tuesday nights, 9pm – 4am
  • Closed for essential maintenance

State Highway 58

SH58 Haywards Hill to Pauatahanui

  • Monday to Friday during the day, 9am – 3pm
  • Stop/go traffic control for project works

SH2 North of Masterton, Opaki Bridge closed 2 nights

  • Wednesday and Thursday nights, 7pm – 5.30am
  • Closed for bridge panel repair
  • Detour via Paierau Road and Ngaumutawa Road

SH2 Masterton, Opaki Road near retirement village

  • Sunday night, 7pm – 6am
  • Stop on request for pole replacement

SH2 Between Carterton and Masterton

  • Saturday to Thursday nights, 7pm – 5.30am
  • Stop/go traffic control for safety improvement project works

Nelson/Tasman state highways 

State Highway 6

SH6 between Hira and Ronga Road

  • Closed for emergency repairs from 1 November to 18 December
  • No traffic access through work sites
  • People travelling between Blenheim and Nelson need to detour via SH63 St Arnaud
  • Forestry road access to Hira for residents in the closure zone only

SH6 Whakatu Drive – Annesbrook Roundabout to Salisbury Link Road/Raeward Roundabout

  • Full closure from 8pm Friday, 4 November to 5.30am Monday, 7 November for road resurfacing
  • Night closures – 8pm to 5.30am from Monday, 7 November, to Thursday, 10 November for road sweeping and new road markings
  • Detour available via Main Road, Stoke

SH6 Richmond Deviation

  • Full closure on 6 November, between 6am – 9am for road resurfacing work
  • Detour available via Gladstone Road – McGlashen Avenue – Talbot Street – Salisbury Road – Main Road, Stoke

SH6 Dellow’s Bluff, Murchison

  • 24/7, traffic lights, one lane, 30km
  • Rockfall and road dropout

SH6 Waller Street, Murchison

  • Tuesday 25 November, Friday 11 November, 6am – 6pm.
  • Resurfacing works
