The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (30 October 2022).

Wellington, Porirua, Kāpiti, Hutt

State Highway 1

SH1 between Glenside/Churton Park and Tawa interchanges

  • Sunday night, 7pm-5.30am
  • One lane closed each direction for vegetation control in median

SH1 Transmission Gully Motorway, north of State Highway 58 interchange

  • Monday and Tuesday during the day, 5am-3pm
  • Northbound one lane closed for rock channel works

SH1 between Te Horo and North of Ōtaki

  • Altered lane layouts day/night for project works

SH1 Peka Peka south

  • Monday and Tuesday nights, 7 pm-5.30 am
  • Stop/go traffic control for expressway works

SH1 Ōtaki North

  • Sunday to Tuesday nights, 7 pm-5.30 am
  • Stop/go traffic control for expressway works

State Highway 59

SH 59 South of Paremata roundabout

  • Sunday night, 7 pm-5.30 am
  • Northbound one lane closed for resurfacing

SH 59 South of Plimmerton roundabout

  • Wednesday night, 7 pm-5.30 am
  • Southbound one lane closed for resurfacing

SH 59 Mana Esplanade near Marina View

  • Wednesday night, 7 pm-5.30 am
  • Southbound one lane closed for resurfacing

SH 59 between Porirua and Transmission Gully Motorway interchange

  • Southbound one lane closed day/night during the week for project works

State Highway 2

SH2 Dowse Interchange southbound OFFRAMP CLOSED

  • Sunday and Tuesday to Thursday nights, 9 pm-4.30 am for cycleway project works
  • Detour via alternative routes

SH2 Lower Hutt, south of the Melling Link intersection

  • Sunday to Thursday nights, 7 pm – 5.30 am
  • One lane closed each direction for drilling works

SH2 Lower Hutt, north and south of Kennedy Good Bridge intersection

  • Monday to Thursday nights, 7 pm – 5.30 am
  • One Lane closed each direction for traffic signal upgrades

SH2 Lower Hutt, south of Haywards interchange

  • Monday night, 7 pm – 5.30 pm
  • One lane closed for asphalt resurfacing

State Highway 58

SH58 Haywards Hill to Pauatahanui

  • Monday to Friday during the day, 9 am – 3 pm
  • Stop/go traffic control for project works

Wairarapa State Highways

State Highway 2

SH2 between Carterton and Masterton

  • Northbound and southbound passing lanes closed day/night for safety improvement project works

SH2 Carterton, High Street near Victoria Street

  • Sunday to Thursday nights, 6 pm – 6 am
  • Stop/go traffic control for wastewater service connection

SH2 between Carterton and Masterton

  • Sunday to Thursday nights, 7 pm – 5.30 am
  • Stop/go traffic control for safety improvement project works

Nelson/Tasman State Highways

State Highway 6

SH6 between Hira and Ronga Road

  • Closed for emergency repairs from 1 November to 18 December
  • No traffic access through work sites
  • People travelling between Blenheim and Nelson need to detour via SH63 St Arnaud
  • Forestry road access to Hira for residents in the closure zone only

SH6 Whakatu Drive – Annesbrook Roundabout to Salisbury Link Road/Raeward Roundabout

  • Full closure from 8 pm Friday, 4 November to 5.30 am Monday, 7 November for road resurfacing
  • Night closures – 8 pm to 5.30 am from Monday, 7 November, to Thursday, 10 November for road sweeping and new road markings
  • Detour available via Main Road, Stoke

SH6 Dellow’s Bluff, Murchison

  • 24/7, traffic lights, one lane, 30km
  • Rockfall and road dropout

SH6 Rocks Road, Nelson

  • Thursday 3 November, 7 pm to Friday 4 November, 3 am
  • Road closure for relocation of barriers to reinstate cycle paths on both sides of the road

SH6 Waller Street, Murchison

  • Tuesday 25 November, Friday 11 November.  6 am – 6 pm.
  • Resurfacing works

State Highway 60

SH60 Bird’s Hill, Golden Bay

  • 24/7, traffic lights, one lane, 30km
  • Hump and road dropout

State Highway 65

SH65 Shenandoah

  • 24/7, traffic lights, one lane, 30km
  • Road dropout
