The southbound lane of a section of State Highway 3 at Lake Alice in Marton will be closed during the day for four weeks beginning Tuesday (25 October), Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises.

The lane will be closed from near Makariki Road to Williamson Line, from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, between 25 October and 19 November.

There will be a signposted detour in place for southbound traffic, via Makiriki Road and Pukepapa Road, before rejoining SH3. This detour will add two to five minutes to journey times.

Northbound traffic will be able to travel through the work site at reduced speed limits.
This one-way closure will allow contractors to rebuild strength into nearly 1km of the southbound lane near the intersection with Union Line.

Access for residents and emergency services will be available throughout the works.

Williamson Line and Neumans Line will remain open throughout the works, however, people are advised that these roads are not suitable for heavy traffic and there will be traffic management in place.

This work is part of the Manawatū-Whanganui summer planned maintenance programme, which runs from October to March.

Waka Kotahi thanks people for their understanding while this important work is completed on the highway.
