State Highway 2 between Kaitoke and Featherston has reopened after being closed due to slips earlier today (2 October).

Hard work by roading crews has seen slip debris cleared and the state highway restored for use just after 11.30 this morning.

The ongoing wet weather means drivers in the lower North Island need to take extra care on the roads. Waka Kotahi urges road users to drive to the conditions, watch their following distances, and be prepared for road hazards such as slips, rockfalls, and localised flooding. Road users should also check roads and highways are open before they travel.
