Toi Ohomai continues to grow its Trades Academy provision across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato rohe with more than 40 schools and kura now involved.
With more than 700 learners enrolled in 2022, the Trades Academy provides senior secondary students (Year 11-13) access to a broad range of trades or technology learning opportunities to ensure they stay engaged in education, and provide them with the right tools to pathway to full-time study, apprenticeships or employment.
As part of the Trades Academy, students work toward a nationally transferable trades-related tertiary qualification at NCEA Level 1, 2 or 3. It is expected students will have the opportunity to achieve an award in at least one of the six Vocational Pathways for NCEA Level 2.
Statistics showed In 2022, more than 1/5 of students enrolled in STP 2021 have transitioned to full-time study with us.
Many students also decided to go straight to employment thanks to their teaching and learning during their STP journey.
Check out this success story of one of our STP students enrolled in the L2 and L3 Agriculture and Farming courses.
