Minor calculation error for used cars in Consumers price index: June 2022 quarter

An error occurred in our calculation of the clean car programme rebate/fee for used cars in the June 2022 quarter consumers price index (CPI). This error does not impact the headline CPI but does have a small impact on some lower-level series. We will not be revising the CPI (as there is no impact on all groups CPI) or any other impacted series. It is not usual practice to revise the CPI because of the impact on customers who use it. We will show a catch-up movement in the September 2022 quarter CPI to ensure we are at the correct level for any impacted series.
We have published a table on Consumers price index: June 2022 quarter showing the corrected figures, for those that are interested in these series.
