Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises caution when travelling on State Highway 3 between the southern side of Mt. Messenger and the Awakino Gorge due to a large diesel spill.
Temporary 30km/h speed limits are in place while crews carry out the clean-up.
Motorists are asked to allow for extra time for their journeys, stick to the temporary speed limits and be mindful of workers on the road.
