State Highway 30 near Kopaki (between Te Kūiti and Kopaki Road) is closed to all traffic from 6pm tonight until 7am Wednesday 27 July for repairs.
The closure ensures the safety of road users, as the existing road surface is uneven and presents a risk to vehicles outside daylight hours. Tomorrow, repair work will take place with the installation of a new culvert and repairs to the road structure.
During the hours the road is closed all vehicles can travel between Te Kuiti and Benneydale via SH3, SH4, Pukerimu Road and Kopaki Road.
Once the road is re-opened the area where the culvert has been installed will have an unfinished surface, and as such a temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place until the final seal can be applied.
