Saddle Road will be closed between Ashhurst and Woodville during the day on weekdays in the upcoming July school holidays, to allow essential resurfacing and maintenance work to be completed.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises from Monday 11 July to Friday 22 July there will be stop/go traffic control in place from 7am to 9am on weekdays, followed by full road closures between 9am and 4pm, reverting back to stop/go from 4pm to 5pm.
The closures are needed to allow contractors to safely complete essential resurfacing and maintenance work, including pavement repairs; sign, edge marker post, sight rail and guard rail maintenance; vegetation mowing and line-marking.
During the closures, light traffic will be detoured via the Pahiatua Track.
For heavy vehicles, the detour will be via State Highway 2 to Bridge Road south of Pahiatua, then on to Scarborough Road, then Mangahao Road, Pahiatua Mangahao Road, Makomako Road and then Pahiatua Track.
Residents, staff of work sites on the route and emergency vehicles will have access to Saddle Road at all times.
This work may be rescheduled in the event of poor weather.
Waka Kotahi thanks everyone for their patience and understanding while we undertake this important work to help keep Saddle Road safe for everyone.
