The Equal Employment Oppurtunities Commissioner Saunoamaali’i Karanina Sumeo and her team want to “shine a light” on workplace bullying and harassment in NZ.
They would like to hear from people who have experienced workplace bullying and harassment to help understand the nature and prevalence of these issues in NZ, and also hear their thoughts on how it could be prevented and what supports are needed.
The team are especially interested in talking to hospitality workers – but want to hear from workers across sectors.
How to get in contact
Contact the Human Rights Commission and briefly explain your experience. You can email [email protected] Please include your contact details and what industry your work in.
What’s involved?
The EEO Commissioner team will conduct a 1-hour interview with each participant.
What will HRC do with the information?
We will analyse the information and write a report of recommendations. We will use this report to advocate to the government and businesses on how to minimise the risks of bullying and harassment and put better support systems in place for people who experience it.
Is it anonymous?
Yes. The team will use the information and possibly some quotes in the final report, but all the results will be anonymised.
Will the project help with someone’s immediate issues?
Hopefully, this project will help bring about long-term improvements to NZ workplaces. However, taking part in this project will not help resolve an immediate situation of bullying or harassment at work.
