Today the White House launched its Water Security Action Plan. In response, WWF issued the following statement from Sarah Davidson, WWF Director of Freshwater Policy:

“As parts of our nation grapple with drought and freshwater species populations plummet at unprecedented rates, swift action is essential to safeguard our freshwater resources and adapt to a changing climate. Freshwater ecosystems harbor a wealth of critical resources for humanity, including drinking water, food, and means for economic growth. We welcome the Administration’s plan to elevate water security and resilience, and support immediate steps to integrate freshwater health into sound infrastructure, energy, development, and climate-smart investments at home and abroad.

“We look forward to working with the US Government to demonstrate global leadership for healthy and resilient freshwater ecosystems, including at the upcoming climate COP and UN 2023 Water Conference.”
