Update from the Ministry of Health

Today we are reporting 8,182 community cases, 373 current hospitalisations, and 13 deaths.

The 7-day rolling average of community case numbers today is 6,893 — last Wednesday, it was 7,308.

COVID-19 deaths

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 13 people with COVID-19 who have died in the past 5 days.

These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,185 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 14.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; 4 were from the Auckland region, 2 were from Canterbury, and 1 each from Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Hawke’s Bay, Hutt Valley, Capital and Coast, Nelson Marlborough, and Southern.

One person was in their 40s, 2 were in their 70s, 5 were in their 80s, and 5 were aged over 90.

Of these people, 6 were female and 7 were male.

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them.

Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths.
