Update from the Ministry of Health

Today we are reporting 8,435 community cases, 327 hospitalisations and 15 deaths.

The 7-day rolling average of community case numbers is 7,507 — last Tuesday it was 7,795.

COVID-19 deaths

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 15 people with COVID-19, all of whom died in the past 4 days.

These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,079 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 13.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; 3 were from the Auckland region, 1 was from Waikato, 1 was from Taranaki, 2 were from the Wellington region, 1 was from Nelson-Marlborough, 4 were from Canterbury and 3 were from Southern.

One person was in their 40s, 2 were in their 60s, 1 was in their 70s, 3 were in their 80s and 8 were aged over 90.

Of these people, 9 were female and 6 were male.

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them.

Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths.
