It is possible that severe winds will continue to impact travel on the Auckland Harbour Bridge this weekend.

Winds are expected to ease overnight tonight but gusts of 80-85km/h are forecast between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday.

Waka Kotahi is working closely with Metservice to monitor wind speeds and if necessary will close lanes on the Auckland Harbour to ensure the safety of road users.

Drivers of high sided vehicles and motorcyclists are encouraged to avoid the bridge and use the Western Ring on State Highways 16 and 18.

Waka Kotahi advises drivers to plan ahead if travelling today by checking social media or our Journey Planner before heading out.
