Update from the Ministry of Health

Today we are reporting 7,800 community cases, 401 hospitalisations and 17 deaths.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers is 8,032 – last Friday it was 7,548.

COVID-19 deaths

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 17 people with COVID-19.

These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,039 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 14.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today — 3 were from the Auckland region, 3 were from the Wellington region, 2 were from Northland, 2 were from Canterbury, 2 were from the Southern region, and 1 each from Waikato, Tairāwhiti, Mid Central, Hawke’s Bay, and Nelson Marlborough.

1 person was in their 50s, 1 was in their 60s, 4 were in their 70s, 5 were in their 80s and 6 were over 90.

Of these people, 13 were women and 4 were men.

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this time.

Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths.
