Overseas merchandise trade statistics provide information on imports and exports of merchandise goods between New Zealand and other countries.

This release refers to trade in goods only.
April 2022 monthly values are actual and compared with April 2021.
- Goods exports rose $928 million (17 percent) to $6.3 billion.
- Goods imports rose $742 million (15 percent) to $5.7 billion.
- The monthly trade balance was a surplus of $584 million.
- Japan leads the monthly exports rise.
- Imports were up from all top trading partners.
